Campaign for Safe Drinking Water- Project

Introduction of Project:
SSO is running this project under “Campaign for Safe Drinking Water” since 2010 in taluka Johi with the support of Interactive Resource Centre (IRC) Lahore and Fund for Global Human Rights (FGHR). Through this project we conduct the following activities:
- Awareness theater plays
- Advocacy with line department
- Youth Mobile Training Workshops
- Social Action Group Meetings
- Screening Video Documentaries on the issue
- Highlight the water issues through video documentaries and uploading on different news channels i.e. DAWN.Com, Maati.TV and Youtube
Achievements:
- Got functionalized the 10 dysfunctional water supply schemes in the area
- Participated in 10th and 11th Interactive Theater Festivals organized by IRC-Lahore
- The communities are sensitized on the issue and own their water supply schemes
- District Government installed the new water supply schemes in remote areas of taluka
- After watching theater play of SSO on the water issue, MPA Sindh Madam Kalsoom Chandio announced 20 million rupees for installation of hand pumps in the targeted areas of the taluka
